Tonbridge Giving Day is all about raising funds for our life-changing Foundation Award bursary programme. Each year, for 36 hours, we bring the School community together to take part in a series of fun challenges, whilst giving back to our local community and creating more bursary places for talented boys without means.
For Giving Day 2023, Welldon House will be taking on a new series of challenges in the community, as well as Donor Challenges which you can participate in too!
As well as boys’ weekly placements supporting local refugee groups and teaching children with severe learning difficulties to swim, each year, we have honed our construction and landscaping skills at Slade Primary School. We redeveloped their forest school, created a nature pond, replaced fences, built a bird hide, a small shop and a puppet theatre, installed new compost bins, rope and bucket pulleys, and remodelled the log area. We also run an outside learning project and a touch rugby challenge.
This year, we are looking forward to returning once again to formally open the school’s fantastic new outdoor classroom, built by the School’s very own Estates team. Alongside 60 children from Year 6, the boys will then enjoy a carousel of outdoor activities, learning and sport, including transforming their allotment area paths, making bug houses, forest school games, holding a photography challenge and a touch rugby tournament.
We will also be competing once more, in a ‘spectacular’ House Taskmaster challenge, results of which will be announced tomorrow.
